Salem Ragoug
Originally from Tunisia, Salem Ragoug develops a free artistic universe, built around the Arabic letter. Self-taught in his approach, he explored different styles before finding his true path in calligraphy.
In his works, the letter goes beyond a simple character: it becomes matter, movement, and emotion. His approach moves away from the strict rules of traditional calligraphy to embrace a freer language, close to lettrism, where forms overlap, intertwine, and compose a true visual music.
His canvases are first contemplated as a whole. One can sometimes discern verses, words of love or freedom, discreetly buried within the pictorial matter. Between abstraction, rhythm, and poetry, Salem Ragoug creates works to be felt as much as to be seen.
